Welcome to Sport Shot Scratch Singles 2002-2003

Before I get to the details of the tournament, I want to personally thank everyone involved in helping to organize, promote, and sponsor the tournament.  I especially want to thank the bowlers for competing, without you the tournament would not exist.  Thank you everyone.

The basic principles for the tournament are remaining the same.  The format, entry fee, lineage and expenses, prize fund, starting time, high game, brackets, cash ratio and the spirit of competition will all remain the same.  There will however, be some changes.

First change, there are 19 scheduled regular events and a Grand Finale Tournament.  You must have bowled 3 regular events to compete in the Finale Tournament.  Like the 2001-2002 season, the Finale Tournament format and entry fee remain the same, but the prize fund grows from extra sponsor money.

Second change, a progressive jackpot is being added.  Bowlers will have the option of paying $5 to enter the progressive.  The entry is returned 100%, however, $3 is returned to the winner of the tournament if he/she is entered.  If the winner is not entered, the jackpot carries to the next tournament and will be added to the daily progressive for that tournament.  The other $2 are split; $1 is added to the following weeks progressive and $1 is put towards the prize fund of the Finale tournament.  For example, if 30 people enter the progressive, the tournament jackpot is $90, $30 is added to the next progressive and $30 is added to prize fund of the Finale tournament.  So, if the tournament pays $400 to win and the winner is in the progressive, he/she would receive at least $490 ($400 for the win, $90 from the Progressive and any additional carryover).  However, if the winner is not in the progressive, the $90 is applied to the progressive for the next tournament.
